This web site is dedicated to the 1980 alumni of Kuang4 Ye3 Zi3 Xiao4 (矿冶子校), graduates of 1980 from the Central South University (中南大学，前中南矿冶学院， 中南工业大学) Affiliated High School (note: KuangYe is the abbreviation of the old name: Central South Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, 中南矿冶学院). These graduates also include those who wandered away to other neighbouring high schools in the last few years in the course of 9.5 years of pre-adult education.

Now almost 30 years have passed since the classmates graduated from KYZX by the scenic and picturesque Yuelu Mountain (岳麓山), West of the legendary Xiang Jiang River (湘江) in Changsha (长沙), the historical city and capital of the province of Hunan (湖南). Some of the graduates from around the world, led by Old Black (老黑), Pei-Lai (沛来), et al, started electronic communications and formed an online e-mail club in November 1998.
 
    
The official name of the club has been selected as "KuangYe80 or KY80 (矿冶八○)" and its date of birth December 28, 1998, following discussions and a vote by its first eleven members. The club soon evolved into the form of a web site. The site(s) adopted a few names in the past, maintained by XB (晓彪), DM (大明), and ZH (子和). Currently it is ky80.net that was set up in 2005 and has been under maintainance by XB.

This online club serves as a place for the members to get in touch with long-lost dudes and dudettes, recall the good old days, share adventures and experiences, discuss interesting topics, and develop future events and opportunities.
